Active Transportation at Green Lake Elementary

Our Active Transportation Committee works every year to make commuting to and from school fun, safe, and well...active! For the 2024-2025 school year, we are doing this mainly through our Bike Everywhere (and to School) Month activities in May.

BIKE EVERYWHERE (AND TO SCHOOL) MONTH

Tune up your family’s bicycles now and make a plan to participate in the many ‘Bike Everywhere Month’ activities GLES has planned during the month of May.

Bingo cards and additional details will be sent home in your student's backpacks in late April before we kick off the May events.

GLES BIKE EVERYWHERE MONTH ACTIVITIES:

Our main activity will be the GLES BIKE BINGO game that prompts students to complete a number of biking or rolling activities, including Bike to School Day on Wednesday, May 7th, the GLES Donut Ride on Saturday, May 17th, and the school's participation in the Pedal Relief Project on Saturday, May 31st.

New for this year's 2025 BIKE BINGO game, the classes at Green Lake Elementary will be competing against each other to earn the most BINGO's (prorated to account for class size). The class with the most BINGO's will win an in-class donut party. Prizes will also be awarded to the individuals who complete the most bingo sheet squares.

BIKE to school bike trains

We invite you to form and manage a ‘Bike Train’ to bike students to and from Green Lake Elementary during the months of April, May, and June. Each group would coordinate their own route and timing for the Bike Train to function. Please email garettcycles@gmail.com if you do form a bike train or if you have any questions.
