WE NEED YOU! The format of our STEM Fair shifts the work of a traditional "Science Fair" off the kids and onto the adults, which makes it more equitable, but means that we rely on you, our community of parents and guardians, to make it happen!

You do NOT need a background in STEM to help.

Volunteering Oportunities:

Before the event:

  • Work with Kim Decker, the STEM Fair Coordinator, to brainstorm stations & prep work materials.
  • Email stem@greenlakedragons.org if you're interested in this!

At the STEM Fair:

  • Shifts are 2.5 hours long, between 8:30am and 3:30pm. See what grade levels will be coming through during a specific shift on the sign-up page.
  • You do not need any sort of background in STEM to help.
  • Choose a station and get a rundown of how it works before the event.
  • Work with another volunteer, demonstrating the activity and encouraging kids to participate.
  • Last year’s stations included: circuitry, dissecting owl pellets, buoyancy in salt water, building challenges with wooden planks, cracking geodes open, and optical illusions. Oh, and the most popular - making slime!
  • Sign up to volunteer here!

Before you Volunteer:

Make sure to complete the online volunteer training/screening to volunteer in the school.

Application and training take about 30 minutes to complete - please start the process 2 weeks before your volunteer date for the background check to go through (so before March 22nd).
